Uncertainty & Concerns as FKF Caretaker Committee’s Mandate Lapses In a Week’s Time

The future of Kenyan football is staring at a bleak and unpredictable future with the mandate of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee set to end in a week’s time.

The country has been flirting with a FIFA ban since last November when Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded FKF and appointed a Caretaker Committee to run football affairs in the country for a period of six months.

The world’s football governing body has been kind to Kenya to say the least, just issuing suspensions with condition of lifting them once Kenya puts her house in order and restores the FKF Secretariat.

With the Committee’s mandate set to lapse on May 11, football stakeholders are in the dark on what the future holds especially after Amina said previously that the committee’s mandate will not be extended.

Once such stakeholder is former FKF Lordvick Aduda who wants the former Education Cabinet Secretary to set the record straight and end the uncertainty being witnessed in football quarters.

It is important for the CS to come out and explain to actual stakeholders the next course of action now that the term of office for the Caretaker Committee is ending and she stated that she will not extend their stay,” Aduda is quoted by a local sports outlet.

According to the long-serving football administrator CS Amina should also explain to concerned parties the steps that have been taken so far to end the football impasse.

“I think it is important that the stakeholders are informed if there are other negotiations going on other than the directives from FIFA. She is a regulator and thus the actual players in the sector need to know what she is up to come next week,” he offered.
