Bidco United head coach Anthony ‘Vieira’ Akhulia is an angry man after his side lost 2-1 to Bandari in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on Saturday afternoon.
According to Akhulia, the Oilers were on course to picking up a vital away win on match day 29 of the 2021/22 season, but were denied their victory by the match officials who he claims were openly in favour of Bandari.
“Ladies and gentlemen, what I have seen in Bandari today is despicable. A good match changed immediately we scored our goal, the referees changed. Everything changed for the worse, our crime was scoring,” Akhulia ranted in a post on Facebook.
The game was evenly contested in the opening half at went to the break tied at 0-0 as both managers, Akhulia and his Bandari counterpart Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani also scratched their heads on how to tilt the game in their favour.
Immediately after the restart, the visitors fired home to break the deadlock and the former midfielder says his side was destined for maximum points until the officials saw it otherwise.
According to the youthful tactician, what was witnessed at Mbaraki is a disgrace to Kenyan football which when not looked into will sink the game into an irredeemable state.
“It was horror. It is something I wouldn’t wish for any team, any coach or any player to go through. It is sad. That’s not football, that is not officiating. It’s something else. Mr. Hosea Omondi and your team, it is okay you have robbed us. You have given Bandari a 2-1 win. If it is betting, you have won the bet. I hope you sleep peacefully with that guilt,” he ranted.
Bandari scored two late goals to win the game 2-1.
