Nzoia Sugar FC are not relenting in their quest to ensure their stay in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.
After recording back to back draws against Bandari (2-2) and Ulinzi Stars (1-1), the Millers have a date with 2009 champions Sofapaka on Sunday, May 1.
Head coach Salim Babu who has rapidly turned around the fortunes at the club since his appointment late January hopes that they can build on their 1-1 at home to Ulinzi last weekend when they visit Sofapaka.
“We are only planning on winning every match. The positive results so far have pushed us above the relegation zone, we want to be safe and you can see my boys are in high spirits to ensure this is done,” said Babu.
According to Babu, their sole goal this season in to evade the callous relegation axe and that will be done by taking a game after another.
Since being roped in from Kisumu All Stars in January to replace Ibrahim Shikanda, Babu has led Nzoia Sugar in ten matches and has only a single loss, a return that has seen the Sudi-based outfit rise from the relegation zone.
The former Sony Sugar says Nzoia’s quest for survival is down to the discipline, cooperation and team work among his players.
“Football is a game of instructions, the boys are disciplined and follow instructions well, we are in high spirits, we have just lost once since I took over and we want to keep the momentum, my boys are playing well,” Babu offered.
The Millers are 14th on the FKF Premier League log with 28 points, 27 rounds into the season while their Sunday hosts Sofapaka are 11th with 33 points and on a four-match unbeaten run.
