KCB FC had a remarkable campaign last season, missing on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title just by three points, after managing 62 points from 32 games as Tusker ran out winners with 65 points to claim their 12th league title.
The 2021/22 campaign present KCB with a clean slate, another opportunity to do what was not possible in the previous campaign and many vouched for the Bankers to mount a serious title challenge in pursuit of the first league title.
Ten matches to the end of the season, KCB lie sixth with 38 points, 14 points adrift of leaders Kakamega Homeboyz it is becoming seemingly obvious that the Zedekiah Otieno-coached side will have to wait at least a season longer to have the title in their backyard.
The situation has gotten into the nerves of the fans but assistant coach Godfrey Oduor has come out to calm them, acknowledging the pressure to better their results.
Oduor has assured the fans that the club will be out to register good results in the remaining ten games so as to have a momentous end to an otherwise not so good campaign.
“We had a really good game against Tusker only that we conceded a late goal. We know we are in a position that we are not supposed to be at but we are working hard to turn things around,” the assistant coach said.
According to Oduor, they want to start the journey of keeping their word by beating Kariobangi Sharks in their next game which is on Saturday afternoon, despite acknowledging the tough nature of the game.
Striker Derrick Otanga held the same view with his coach, promising that soon, the club will witness a change in fortune hence calling on their fans not to lose hope.
