Midfield Sensation Collins Sichenje Signs for Sweden’s AIK Fotboll From AFC Leopards

Harambee Stars midfielder Collins Sichenje has completed his move from Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side AFC Leopards to Swedish top-tier side AIK Fotboll.

Sichenje has signed a four-year deal with the Gnaw, who play their home matches at the Friends Arena, Solna, Stockholm.

“AIK Football has agreed with 18-year-old midfielder Sichenje Collins on a contract that extends until December 31, 2026. Collins last played for AFC Leopards SC in Kenya,” the statement from the club reads in part.

Sichenje only rejoined Ingwe in January, has hailed the move, terming it a major milestone in his footballing career.

“For me, coming to AIK is a dream come true. At this point in my career, I couldn’t have chosen a better club. I know both Otieno and Meja, who play for the team, and they have both spoken highly of the club,” said Sichenje.

The 18-year-old joins other two Kenyan international at AIK Fotboll in left back Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma and former Tusker winger Henry Meja.

I could not have come to a better club at this stage of my career. I know both Otieno and Meja who play in the team and both have said very good things about the club to me,” added the midfielder.

The Kakamega High School alumni donned the national team colours for the first time in March 2021 as the Harambee Stars picked up a 1-0 win over South Sudan in a friendly match at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Sichenje’s new contract will see him set camp at the Stockholm-based club until December 31, 2026.
