The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League race is heating up and so is the race for the Golden Boot.
The 2021/22 FKF Premier League entered its 22 round over the weekend presenting goal poachers with an opportunity to make an extra stride towards the individual accolade.
Winger Cliffton Miheso who joined Kenya Police FC at the start of the season after declining a contract extension with record champions Gor Mahia leads the top scoring charts with nine goals.
His goals together with those of his teammates have the law enforcers 10th on the FKF Premier League log in which is just a debut season for them.
Kariobangi Sharks’ lethal striker Felix Oluoch comes in a close second with nine goals a tally that received a shot in the arm in last October when he scored a hat-trick in their 6-0 win over Mathare United.
Sharks lie seventh on the log with 33 points from 22 matches they are winless in their last four outings.
Joint third with seven goals each are Derrick Otanga of KCB who were last season’s runners up and Tanzanian import Ibrahim Joshua who has been instrumental for defending champions Tusker in their bid to bring back on track their title defence.
Tusker are on an upward trajectory having last lost a match on January 16, 1-0 against Nairobi City Stars.
The Brewers are second on the log with 40 points, six adrift of leaders Kakamega Homeboyz while the Bakers are fifth with 36 points.
Tied in fifth with six goals is the quadruple of Ellie Asieche (Wazito), Ezekiel Odera, (Nairobi City Stars), David Okoth, (Kakamega Homeboyz) and Joseph Waithera (Sofapaka).
