After a torrid start to the new season, Tusker FC finally have their title defence back on track if the log positions and their unbeaten run is anything to go by.
The defending champions coasted to a 3-0 win over Wazito FC in one of the two Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League matches played on Tuesday, both being staged at the Kasarani Annex.
Both teams headed into the game on the back of scoring draws; Tusker had drawn 1-1 with Kenya Police FC in their last match while Wazito had managed to secure a last minute 2-2 draw against Kariobangi Sharks at the Nyayo National Stadium over the weekend.
Despite the both teams being on a fine run in front goal, the goals were difficult to come by for either side in the opening half, as the game headed for a 0-0 break.
The Brewers were banking on their star man Ibrahim Joshua for the goals as he was the one leading the attack, and true to their expectations, the Tanzanian import fired home in the 50th minute to give the visitors the lead.
Ibrahim who joined the Robert Matano-coached before the start of the new season is Tusker’s leading scorer this season with seven goals to his name so far.
Second half substitute, Deogratious Ojok, a Ugandan national, made maximum use of his minutes doubling Tuskers lead in the 77th minute before sealing his brace in the second minute of stoppage time to sum up Wazito’s annihilation at the hands of the Brewers.
Tusker who stretch their unbeaten run to nine game rise to second on 27 points from 21 matches, six points adrift of league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz who are at home to Vihiga Bullets on Wednesday.
Wazito remain 15th with a return of 20 points after 21 rounds.
