Sofapaka coach Ken Odhiambo has labelled Wednesday’s FKF Premier League match against record champions Gor Mahia in Wundanyi as ‘crucial’.
But Odhiambo knows it will not be easy to accomplish his mission if K’Ogalo’s recent form is anything to go by.
Unlike the 11th placed Batoto Ba Mungu who have been blowing hot and cold, the joint-third placed Gor Mahia have only lost once in their last nine fixtures.
“We face a team that is currently on a good run, but it is a perfect opportunity to build on the momentum from the point against KCB. Our preparation is good and we will treat our opponents with the right mindset,” said Odhiambo.
“Our encounter against Gor has always been a close one. We are in need of maximum points moving forward and the Wednesday tie is a chance for us. It’s a crucial encounter and we want to convert our chances upfront.”
While the former Kenyan international was pleased getting a point against KCB in their last match, he urged his charges to be ruthless in front of goal.
“The bankers dominated the better part of the first half, but after the substitutions, we got stability and became dangerous on goal. Sadly, we didn’t convert our chances but I am glad we collected a point against a strong opponent and we want to build on it come Wednesday,” said Odhiambo.
