Nairobi City Stars will be seeking to return to winning ways on Wednesday when they host Posta Rangers at the Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.
Simba wa Nairobi as they are fondly known, suffered a damaging 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bidco United in a match that was marred by controversial referring decisions.
However City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti who has had a fine run since joining the team from Kakamega Homeboyz before the start of the season, is keen to move on from the defeat and steer the team forward.
“My team was not up to standards in the Bidco game but we have to pick ourselves up quickly because we have a game on Wednesday. We have to make sure that we are able to attack well and also have a solid defense in order to get something from the game,” Muyoti said.
Muyoti says the defeat was damaging psychologically, but picks up the positives that his boys exhibited in the second half.
The former Kenya international is now keen on taming the mailmen who also lost their last game, 3-1 against league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz.
“The effects of the defeat are psychological, we lost but what I can carry from the Bidco game heading into the Posta encounter is that in the second half we were on the front foot, so we will pick it from there. We managed to create chances and I’m sure if you go into the match with the same mentality we will be able to score goals against Rangers,” he said.
City Stars are second on the FKF Premier League log with 35 points, eight points adrift of leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, 20 games into the season while Rangers are seventh with 29 points.
