Wins are Around the Corner, Bandari’s Kimani says After Drawing First Two Games

Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani is yet to win a single game since replacing his mentor and senior Andre Casa Mbungo, though on an interim basis, a fortnight ago.

Luckily Kimani, who was Mbungo’s assistant at both AFC Leopards and Bandari, is yet to lose a game either, picking up scoring draws in the last two games.

First, it was a 1-1 draw against record champions Gor Mahia at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on February 27 before twice relinquishing the lead to draw 2-2 with his former side AFC Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, March 6.

Despite picking up only two points from a maximum six, the Bandari FC interim coach insists the club is on the right track and it will not be long until maximum points start thronging in.

“We are not where are supposed to be but we are on the right track from the two matches against two oldest clubs in the history of Kenya football,” said the former AFC Leopards tactician.

Bandari’s biggest problem this season has been a misfiring striking department and after scoring one against Gor Mahia in his first match in charge of the Dockers and two against AFC Leopards in his second match, Kimani believes he is slowly getting the team firing.

He however decries a too generous backline which he blames on laxity.

“We used not to score, then we scored one against Gor, and now two against AFC, we just need to rectify small defensive errors and we will be good to go,” said Kimani.

Bandari are eighth on the FKF Premier League log with 28 points from 20 matches and are next away to Talanta FC on Wednesday seeking to end their nine-match winless run.
