Wazito FC are wary of defending champions Tusker ahead of the two sides Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League faceoff at the Kasarani Annex on Tuesday.
Wazito are on a two-match unbeaten run, beating Police FC 3-2 on Saturday February 26 before drawing 2-2 with Kariobangi Sharks on Friday, March 4.
Despite what looks like a fine form in front of goal, head coach Fred Ambani is treading carefully ahead of one of Tuesday’s double header at the Kasarani Annex.
“Tusker are the defending champions so we expect a tough clash. But we have prepared and we will give our best,” Ambani said in an interview with Nation Sport.
A win for Tusker will see them dislodge Nairobi City Stars (35 points) from second place on 37 points and six points adrift of leaders Kakamega Homeboyz who have only lost a single game this season.
If Wazito happen to pull a win they, will still remain 15th though they will be level on points (23) with Bidco United.
The Brewers are in better form, currently on an eight-match unbeaten run and last lost on January 16, 1-0 against Nairobi City Stars.
They will be banking on their lead scorer this season, Tanzanian Joshua Ibrahim (five goals) for the goals against Wazito who have conceded 32 goals in 20 games of the season so far.
