Sofapaka have been boosted by the return of midfielders Sammy Kiplangat and Wilberforce Lugogo from injuries ahead of Friday’s FKF Premier League match against Tusker in Wundanyi.
Kiplangat has successfully recovered from a foot injury and resumed training with the rest of the squad, while Lugogo is back after being sidelined for almost two months with a knee injury.
The league resumes this weekend after a two week break.
While Sofapaka bounced back to the winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Wazito February 12 before the league took a break, the brewers were held to a barren draw by Ulinzi Stars in their rescheduled match last Wednesday.
Sofapaka are currently tenth on the table standings with 24 points, six behind sixth placed Tusker.
But even as they are pleased with the availability of the duo, Batoto Ba Mungu coach Ken Odhiambo has been saddened by the absence of Geoffrey Ojunga and Brandon Obiero. The duo will miss the match due to injury.
“We have two fresh injury concerns ahead of Friday. We lost Brandon Obiero who suffered a calf injury on Saturday while taking on Kariobangi Sharks in a build-up match and definitely will miss the fixture,” said Odhiambo.
“Geoffrey Ojunga is another concern, having suffered a sprain on his right ankle in one of our training sessions. He is a doubt for Friday’s duel though he will be subject to, a late fitness test. However, we are glad to have Sammy Kiplangat and Wilberforce Lugogo back in the squad.”
