Struggling Vihiga Bullets Bullish Ahead of Trip to In-form AFC Leopards

Despite being glued to the bottom of the table with only a single win in the entire season so far, debutants Vihiga Bullets have warned AFC Leopards to brace up for a fierce battle when the two side clash in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Vihiga Bullets have played 17 games this season, winning only one, 4-1 against Wazito FC on January 9, drawing five and losing 11, but head coach Juma Abdallah thinks AFC Leopards who are 11th on the standings, have a reason to be worried.

For sure we have prepared very well and the boys are enthusiastic in the camp, they are motivated and thinking of the game against AFC Leopards,” said Abdallah.

The bottom-placed side was busy in the January transfer window to save their abysmal debut campaign roping in a number of players among them the Kakamega Homeboyz offensive midfielder who is expected to threaten the Ingwe backline right from the kickoff whistle.

“Like for the match against AFC Leopards, I will play three new boys in the squad namely defender Brian (Ochieng), the experienced (Kevin) Aroti who has played for a long time and also Collins Jumba while the other departments remain unchanged,” added the former Western Stima head coach.

Despite the midseason additions, Vihiga Bullets’ ability to turn around their season and avoid dropping back to the National Super League (NSL) has been put in doubt especially after the team failed to score a goal in the last three outings in which they have lost one and drawn two.

Sunday’s task at the Nyayo National Stadium is a big one for the rookies as they form an inform Ingwe side which is on a four-match unbeaten streak but Abdallah and his troops remain uncowed.
