Kenyan international Peter ‘Pinchez’ Opiyo has challenged his Nairobi City Stars teammates to avoid dropping points unnecessarily if they want to challenge for the FKF Premier League title.
Simba wa Nairobi have had an impressive season so far and are currently second on the table standings with 32 points, five behind league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz.
City Stars have recorded nine wins, five draws and four losses from their 18 matches this campaign.
But currently enjoying a six game unbeaten run, Opiyo who has scored two goals for Nicholas Muyoti’s men in the ongoing season, six less than his tally last campaign, says they must continue working hard to achieve their target.
“I must say that so far we’ve had a decent season and it can only get better,” said Opiyo.
“if only we can avoid dropping points that could have been crucial as far as the table (standing) is concerned.”
The former Tusker, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia midfielder credits City Stars’ never-die-attitude and chemistry for their good performance in the league.
“Team chemistry is perfect and it’s a great plus to us. Because of that, we approach all games with a winning mentality. I must say it going on well for us and we can only make it better,” said Opiyo.
Opiyo has so far featured in eleven games this season with his two goals coming in their 2-0 win over Mathare United.
