Jorginho Makes Amends in 1-1 Draw with High-Flying Chelsea!

Sancho opens the scoring with a penalty, after a mistake from Jorginho. The Italian then steps up and nets a penalty to make it 1-1, in this huge English Premier League showdown!

A 69th-minute spot-kick saved Chelsea, as they drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Sunday in the English Premier League (EPL). The encounter may have been Michael Carrick’s last match as temporary coach before Ralf Rangnick takes the reigns.

Acting skipper, Jorginho, atoned for an earlier howler which allowed Jadon Sancho to score for the Red Devils, by stroking home a penalty 21 minutes before the final whistle.

Sancho put United into the lead on 50 minutes when a hopeful long ball forward was met by Jorginho, whose first touch was poor. The error allowed the 21-year-old to steal possession, power towards goal, and roll the ball into the back of the net.

The mistake was less expensive than it could have been. Aaron Wan-Bissaka brought Thiago Silva down in the box and Jorginho stepped up and scored the 69th-minute penalty, sending David de Gea in goal the wrong way.

The result reduces Chelsea’s lead at the summit of the table to one point, while United move up to the eighth position.

“We cannot be surprised [that the title race is so close],” Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel told the BBC after the game.

Things like this happen. We played such good games against Burnley and Manchester United and feel disappointed, as we think by far we did enough. Over a long season, you drop points and you dig in and try to steal them back if someone steals them from you. We are in the middle of the race and this is where we want to be,” concluded the Blues manager.
